In 2006 and 2008, we were commissioned to write a series of reports about New Zealanders' knowledge of Asia.
The initial report was based on findings of a joint Ministry of Education-Asia New Zealand Foundation group examining the issue. Our role was to build on the group's work and clearly communicate:
At 24 pages, the report was deliberately brief. Narrative headings were used throughout to help readers grasp the key points even if they did nothing but glance through.
The report achieved extensive media coverage and helped to inform ongoing debate about New Zealand's relationships with Asian nations and people.
Further reports were commissioned on links between Asia and New Zealand provinces Canterbury (pdf), Taranaki (pdf) and Bay of Plenty.
