Who are we?
We're a little company with a big heart. A heart dedicated to telling great stories. Stories that are clear, simple, compelling and true.
I've always loved a good story. From when I was very young it seems there has always been either a book or a pen in my hand. Stories can help us understand what it is to be human.
I started West Egg in 2000 after 10 years as a journalist, including managing a newsroom as Filing Editor of the New Zealand Press Association.
Since then I have worked with many clients, both in the public and private sector, helping them tell their stories. I write and edit internal and external communications, media statements, speeches, annual reports, magazines, websites and more.
I have published two novels with Penguin, and four children's picture books, including the series about Champ the Chopper illustrated by Weta Workshop. I also teach meditation, love to travel and am most proud of our two wonderful daughters.
That's our story. What's yours?
I've been telling stories for a living for more than 20 years - as a journalist, a fiction writer, and a communications contractor.
I love taking things that seem complicated and making them simple. I love the right word in the right place. I love the music of language. And I love a great story, especially when telling it seems to be doing some good.
I joined West Egg Ltd in 2001, after a little over a decade as a journalist (most of that in Parliament's press gallery). I write pretty much anything, but most often my roles focus on report writing, communications/media advice, and web writing. I've won awards for journalism and short fiction, and my clients have won or been shortlisted for numerous awards for plain English communication and annual reporting.
When I'm not at work, I love to be with my family, to travel, to swim, to read and write. As well as being a dad, partner and writer, I also practice and teach meditation which makes life sweet.
